Golaghat (Assam) [India], April 24 (ANI): Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal assured on Thursday that the perpetrators behind the deadly Pahalgam terror attack will face the strictest actions. He emphasised that those responsible will not be spared.

“Whichever Pakistani killed the common man of our country will not be spared. Strictest action will be taken against such people”, Sonowal told reporters.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow over the brutal killing of innocent civilians by terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, while addressing a gathering in Madhubani on Thursday.

The Prime Minister remarked that the entire nation is deeply distressed by the attack and stands in solidarity with the grieving families. He assured that the government is making every effort to ensure the speedy recovery of those undergoing treatment.

PM Modi highlighted the profound loss suffered by the victims’ families, noting that some lost their sons, brothers, or life partners. The victims hailed from diverse linguistic and regional backgrounds, with some speaking Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, and Gujarati, while some were from Bihar.

“The terrorists responsible for this attack, along with those who conspired it, will face punishment beyond their imagination”, the Prime Minister said, asserting that the time has come to eliminate the remaining strongholds of terrorism. “The willpower of 140 crore Indians will now break the backbone of the perpetrators of terror,” the PM stressed.

In response to the attack in Pahalgam, the Indian government has decided to suspend visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect.

Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “In continuation of the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on Security in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Government of India has decided to suspend visa services to Pakistani nationals with immediate effect.”

“All existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from 27 April 2025. Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till 29 April 2025,” the statement added.

The Central government has called for an all-party meeting to discuss the Pahalgam attack. The meeting will be held at 6 pm on Thursday at the Parliament. According to sources, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will chair the meeting.

Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde will represent the party at the meeting. A statement from the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena expressed “unwavering” support in the aftermath of the attack that claimed 26 lives.

Several opposition parties, including Congress, Samajwadi Party, AIMIM, and others, are also expected to participate in the meeting. (ANI)
