California [US], February 9 (ANI): The Mushroom Kingdom is trading its green pipes for the stars.

During the 2026 Super Bowl clash between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, Universal Pictures and Nintendo officially launched the “Level Up” trailer for ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’, confirming a theatrical rollout beginning April 1, 2026, as per the Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the sequel to the blockbuster follows Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) as they venture into outer space alongside Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key).

The footage posted by the makers on their official social media handles, highlights new gravitational mechanics, showing the heroes running upside down in space suits as they navigate the cosmos.

A major highlight of the trailer is the introduction of Princess Rosalina, voiced by Brie Larson, who warns of the universe’s fabric unraveling from the Comet Observatory.

The stakes are further raised by Benny Safdie’s debut as Bowser Jr., who pilots a massive “Megaleg” mech suit and declares, “The great battle of my life draws near!”

The trailer also leans into fan-favourite cameos and humour. A prominent sequence features Yoshi alongside Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, with the green dinosaur seen eating Kamek (Kevin Michael Richardson).

In a nod to Super Mario Odyssey, a realistic T-Rex chases the group after Baby Mario disturbs its slumber.

Produced by Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto, the film aims to build on the massive success of the 2023 original.

Following its April 1 debut, the movie will hit the United States on April 3 and Japan on April 24. (ANI)
