In the review meeting of development works, Commissioner Garhwal said that Srinagar is an important stop in view of the Char Dham Yatra, where proper arrangement of traffic as well as parking is challenging. He directed the district administration to identify some such Dharamshalas and night shelters under Srinagar area, where helpless travelers can get some relief free of cost.

He has directed to keep all the water points on the Yatra route operational and keep the public toilets clean. He appreciated the proactive preparations of the district administration regarding the preparations of Chardham Yatra.

The Commissioner Garhwal directed the DM Garhwal to conduct a survey regarding the condition of rural motor roads in the district area and submit a report. Regarding the quality of the ongoing asphalting and pothole-free works on the motor roads, he took stock of the quality of asphalting between Pauri-Devprayag on State Highway-31 and the quality of patch work near Dwaridhar Gaushala. He instructed the PWD officials to complete the remaining work of ongoing asphalting soon.

While reviewing the preparations for forest fire prevention, the Commissioner Garhwal said that departmental coordination and public participation are necessary to prevent forest fire. He also appreciated the efforts being made at the district level for this. Commissioner Garhwal expressed satisfaction over the innovations being adopted at the district level for the prevention of forest fire, public awareness campaign, and the implementation of the Sheetalakhet model in more than 30 villages.

To ensure the availability of drinking water to every villager in summer, he has instructed the officials of Jal Sansthan and Jal Nigam to increase the time period of pumping as well as ensure alternative arrangements for water supply through tankers if required.

IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop talked about conducting a dry run regarding parking and traffic arrangements in Srinagar with all the line departments before the start of the Yatra. He said that to deal with any situation during the Yatra season, special emphasis needs to be given on accommodation, traffic and parking arrangements at a place like Srinagar. (ANI)
