Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], September 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday interacted with women beneficiaries of ‘PM Awas Yojana’ in Bhubaneswar and had a delightful interaction, over a cup of tea with the beneficiaries, who are now proud owners of their homes.
While interacting with the beneficiaries, PM Modi asked one of the beneficiaries, “What all work do you 10 women do?” On that, one of the beneficiaries replied and said, “We work on the mushrooms’.
After which PM Modi asked, “How much do you earn?”
Replying to that, one of the beneficiaries said, “We earn Rs 10000-15000 per month.” On the reply, PM Modi called her “Lakhpati didi.”
One of the beneficiaries expressed her happiness that PM Modi arrived at their village and said, “We are all very happy you came here. I am thankful to you.”
Replying to the women, the Prime Minister asked, “What work do you do?” She said, “Stitching work.”
“Can you make this type of Kurta (he was wearing)?” PM Modi said.
Replying to the Prime Minister, she said that “yes I can make.” On that PM Modi said that “stitch and give it to Odisha Chief Minister.”
In a post on X, PM Modi said that he had delightful conversations over tea with beneficiaries and heard their life journeys.
“Delightful conversations over tea! Sat down with PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries and heard their life journeys. Particularly gladdening to see large number of women benefitting from this scheme,” PM Modi posted on X.
Earlier today, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development projects worth Rs 3800 crore in Bhubaneswar.
He also launched and dedicated to the nation several projects in the state. He released the first installment of assistance to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G in around 14 states.
The Griha Pravesh celebrations for 26 lakh beneficiaries of PMAY (Gramin and Urban) from across the country were held during the programme. PM Modi also handed over the keys to their house to PMAY (Gramin and Urban) beneficiaries.
He also launched the AWS+ 2024 app for a survey of additional households for PMAY-G. Further, the Prime Minister launched the Operational Guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
The Prime Minister launched ‘Subhdra’, the flagship scheme of the Government of Odisha, in Bhubaneswar. It is the largest women-centric initiative and is expected to cover over 1 crore women. Under the scheme, all eligible beneficiaries between the ages of 21 and 60 will receive Rs. 50,000 over five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29.
On this historic occasion, the Prime Minister initiated the fund transfer into the bank accounts of more than 10 lakh women. (ANI)
