Amritsar (Punjab) [India], April 22 (ANI): Continuing its crackdown against the cross-border smuggling attempts, vigilant BSF troops on Tuesday recovered a Pakistani drone and two heroin consignments in two separate operations from the border areas of Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts.

According to a BSF release, a search operation conducted on the information provided by an aware local villager resulted in the recovery of 1 packet of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 500 Grams) from a cauliflower field adjacent to Village Gola Dola in Gurdaspur district.

Another packet of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 558 Grams) was recovered jointly by BSF and Punjab Police today, from a harvested field adjacent to the village of Modhe in Amritsar district.

In yet another incident, a search operation by the BSF, based on specific information, culminated in the recovery of a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone on Tuesday.

The drone was found hanging from a tree adjacent to the village of Sarangdev in the Amritsar district and is presumed to have crashed due to technical interference from countermeasures deployed on the border.

Reliable inputs, electronic safeguards deployed on the border and diligent efforts of the troops have been successful in foiling these smuggling attempts and drone intrusions from across the border.

Earlier on Monday, the BSF, in coordination with the Punjab Police, recovered four Pakistani drones and significant quantities of suspected heroin from the border areas of Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts.

The recoveries were made during a series of search operations based on specific intelligence inputs and routine surveillance duties. (ANI)
