Jeddah [Saudi Arabia], April 22 (ANI): The members of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia expressed great joy and enthusiasm upon meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is currently visiting Saudi Arabia. The members of the Indian community exuded optimism on the Prime Minister’s visit and lauded his efforts for the Indian community.

Anil Malpani told ANI, “It was wonderful to meet PM Modi, we came to raise the issue about having a consulate built in Dammam, so hopefully the dream will come true”.

Praising the PM, he said “The Aura of Modiji is amazing.” He hailed PM Modi for the work being done for NRIs.

One of the Indian community members told ANI, “We can’t put our feelings and excitement into words.. We are very happy that PM Modi came here and we got to spend this time with him”.

Another lady told ANI, “PM really takes care of everyone. He cheered them (dancers) up. He met them and greeted them and asked how long it took for them to prepare the dance. That shows his generosity”.

Earlier in an interview to Arab News ahead of his arrival, PM Modi spoke about the 2.7 million strong Indian community in Saudi Arabia. He told Arab News that he is grateful to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, “for the patronage they have provided to the Indian community in Saudi Arabia”.

He had also underscored, “For my government, the members of the Indian diaspora are the “rashtradoots” (national ambassadors). The 4Cs — Care, Connect, Celebrate and Contribute — is the motto of our engagement with our diaspora. Their safety, welfare and well-being is paramount for us.”

PM Narendra Modi, along with Crown Prince and the PM of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will co-chair the second Leaders’ Meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council during his visit to the country. (ANI)
